Its been a while....Two plus months....not much in the way of trips.....The Headline for "since forever" months has been the weather....RAIN, hail.... with flooding, and tornadoes thrown into the mix....we where lucky concerning the latter two, though we had 3 tornadoes touch down one evening within 5/10 miles from us....numerous communities weren't so lucky, especially Wimberley, Texas....they had the river overflow and extreme flooding with loss of life. We had been there a year or so ago..stayed at a quaint motel right on the banks of the river....the town is a stones throw from the famous BBQ place called Salt-Lick... a tornado touched down a near Salt-lick and I don't think the Motel survived....

The Rains are still coming....not as torrential as before...but enough to have to cut grass when its still wet and a bit soggy.....Haven't been able or "wanting" to do much with the "Albino Armadillo"(The Casita)...though the Hitchitch keeps raising its head....and of course "old Age" aliments also keep popping out of the box.....the latest is that Plantar Fasciitis has come back with vengeance...on both feet...which keeps my daily walks going a very slow pace and maybe every 3rd day instead of daily and the miles walked to almost nil....

No all has been bleak....we did manage a trip. To Charleston to help surprise SIL with a 50th birthday party.. did not take the Egg....took l-10 there and l-20 back home....had a great time/party...it was a complete surprise to SIL...due to my warped sense of humor, I had to package a bunch of "old F...ts" stuff...most of which I use.. :) It was a fun time and spent time with folks we haven't seen in a while...plus the icing was spending quality time with the Gboys....since the parents where working we got them a couple days....HEHA!

Now we're back and waiting for some sunshine and drying out....I am still trying to decide where I want to go on my Fall trip...part of me wants to venture to the East ...New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Kentucky, etc...I just don't want to deal with the crowds.....which brings me back to the West....open roads, solitude and magnificent Vistas....though I want to go to places I haven't been before...If anyone has ideas, I sure am open to suggestions!...

Great update! Poor Texas with all the nasty weather...much more than it's share of storms.
ReplyDeleteUnderstand how you feel about the east and the hordes of beings but the northeast is quite doable if you can just get far enough away into the national forests and away from the big touristy areas. At least that was our impression on our one trip to New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
Thanks Lynne...its seems that a storm a day is now getting to be routine... :)
DeleteI'm sure happy....and envious, as to the direction you two are heading, down Life's Highway....I'm guessing it will have speedbumps, but at the end of the day there will be a "Double Rainbow"....I'm still debating on my Fall trip though I may split it in half as to Vermont and the Smokies....and go out west this fall...we'll see...take care and enjoy the Escape...Horst sends
Morning, my friend. Sorry to read about the foot problems. I know that's tough, especially in both feet. Thankfully, I experienced it one foot at a time. What a way to break a drought! Don't think anyone dreamed it would end the way it did. Glad you had a safe and fun trip to SC. I know you had a great time with those grands. Hope you're feeling better soon and able to work on that hitchitch. The Northeast wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but as Lynne mentioned, we stayed away from the major cities. The rural areas were much prettier than I imagined. Take care...jc
ReplyDeleteI guess thee aches and pains comes with the "territory"...the aging one.. :) The Grands where a lot of fun....wish we could have brought them back...I am really torn between a East Coast trip and heading out West...again.. I've almost come to the conclusion that I'd fly and rent car for the Fall Vermont/New Hampshire part...maybe next year and do a Smoky Mountain and other parts East next Spring...I guess I just enjoy the West too much...hope all is well with you and Wanda....Take care Buddy...Horst sends
DeleteI don't know any day trips to recommend but I do recommend that Rockport/Aransas Pass NOT be one of them. Between the severe heat indexes and the hordes of mosquitos, I am really looking forward to leaving here July 6.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barney...Not going your way this time a year... becomes a "bumper to bumper" drive...not very much fun for a Day Trip....I guess your getting ready to head out to Gavinland...take care and safe Travels....Horst sends
DeleteYou two sure seem to be enjoying these days, and this years summer "Gig" appears have been a great success...unlike the "Bust" you had last year...I'm still debating about my Fall adventure ...guess I just love the wide open spaces of the west Toooooo much.. :) Grandpa time with the Grands was a "Happy Face " experience, again...as was the entire visit there....take care and keep those Blogging posts coming...Horst sends
