Canyonlands…What a magnificent Place

Wi-Fi is not on my Team these Days..I believe I last wrote on Wednesday, 3 Sept. at a State Park with a Super attitude… I slept well that night…temps in the low 50’s…window open..fresh air  from the Colorado River…its another one of those great stop over places..I’ve got it bookmarked.

I wrote up at 0630….the sun was also waking up…made coffee  and just sat outside, not wanting to hitch up, clean up, nor wake up! I knew todays drive would be a short one..so why hurry…I keep having to remind myself that this a unscheduled, and undefined Tour..

Finally pulled out around 0830 or so and sometime before noon turned off of l-70 unto Rt 191 heading south…My Bride found a State Park inside Cayonlands with electric, sitting on a bluff and wanted to know if I was interested.. I knew of a Nat’l Park dry camping CG and a Forestry Service dry camp…I thought let me try that and see what they have to offer…I called about half hour prior to arrival, they had one site left, could not book it to me, so I took a chance , and it was still vacant when I got there..it was only good for one night…ok the  two Dry  Camps hardly ever fill up….this will work…they also have their own section of Canyonlands, which you pay a day use fee..Have a awesome “Goosenecks” overlook…morning photo ops…

I enjoyed touring the State Park area and the really great news is ….when I went out for my first look around there is a Casita right behind me…we chat…they just got a “new to them” 2007” and this is kinda a “Maiden Voyage”…plus there reside in Texas…

Friday morning got up early so I could take some Canyon shoots, also wanted to see which of the two CG’s I wanted to move to…I Chose the Willow Flats one as it is closer to the scenery I wanted to visit..though it a further drive to Moab…Got  setup at the new site before Noon..they called it a pull through..HA…it was a pretzel, and side to side was a real mess…but it all worked out and by one pm I was heading to Moab to fill one of the propane tanks and also get a couple items at the grocery store…

Got back around 430pm am running the Genny for a couple hours and will grill some chicken, sweet corn,  and a spinach, kinda sorta salad..will try to post a couple pics and see if I can Launch this tomorrow from the Visitors Center…my Wilson Sleek is not doing much out here..”I think the place is haunted by “Thelma and Louise”…recall the final scene of that movie…until next time …and I thank all of you who stopped by and those that left a comment..I apologize up front for being late in my responses and following/commenting on your Blog posts…no Wi-Fi…Happy Trails…Horst sends

Ok…so I can’t let go of the Tetons…I’ll get some “counseling”!

  1. Majestic! Especially loved the sky in the 4th photo.

I still think your header photo is the best that has ever been taken of that old barn! :)

    1. I suppose your right, though I do like the structure of this Barn. You and Ron have a GREAT Sunday and may there be Adventure for you both in the near future...Horst sends

    1. Thanks Lynne..Canyonlands is a awesome place and so different than anywhere else I've visited...even the Grand Canyon is no match...in my humble opinion. And you just can't capture the vastness on film...at least I can't...I really have enjoyed my time there....Have a super week...Horst sends

  3. I suppose I get spoiled with the "Wi-Fi"...The scenery is interesting and massive...I don't think anything can compare to it, in terms of shear size...thanks for stopping by...Horst sends.
